Amazon
Amazon is an e-commerce website founded on July 5th, 1994 by Jeffrey Bezo in Seatle, Washington. The company was named “Cadabra” and started as an online bookstore. Their mission statement was to deliver any book to any reader. As the years passed they began to sell other items like CDs and DVDs. Eventually, by 2002, Amazon began to sell an assortment of products and launched Amazon Prime in 2005. 

Currently, Amazon is known for delivering many products. As the years pass they acquire different companies and enter different markets. Their most recent acquisition led them to enter pharmaceuticals. Their logo represents that they sell every from A to Z.  Aside from acquiring companies, they also offer a streaming service that is included with a prime subscription called Prime Video.

Amazon Prime is a loyalty program that offers a range of benefits and access to its streaming service called Prime Video. Customers can pay for this subscription for a monthly price of $15 or an annual price of $139. They offer special pricing to students and for those who qualify for government assistance. Some perks include free one-day shipping, pre-order items, rewards when they select no-rush shipping, and more!

The company’s website states the following “Although our business has evolved over the years, one constant is customers’ desire for lower prices, better selection, and convenient services. Today, Amazon shoppers can find what they’re looking for online and in person. From delivering fresh produce to their doorstep to creating and distributing movies, music, and more, we are always finding new ways to delight our customers”. 



They focus on offering customers an array of services and products. Customers' trust is earned by
providing convenient service, Amazon works to create new experiences every day with the power of technology.

Recently they started stores called Amazon Go which allowed customers to shop in a seamless way. People would be able to shop for fresh produce, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals without the hassle of long lines or checkouts. The entire store is run by just walk-out technology that can automatically detect when items are removed from shelves and keep track of items in a virtual shopping cart.

    I did not realize that amazon prime was launched in 2005. The company has grown tremendously since then.

    what is concerning to me is with Amazon's expansion what impact will it continue to have on small businesses and treatment of employees.

I would suggest Amazon work more closely with employees in the warehouses. Although their current services make a positive impact on their customers it's beginning to make a hole in their company and creating division between the company and employees.  Their prime subscription has made it easy to get more items faster and gives access to different services and exclusive content. Nevertheless, employees work non-stop to fulfill the high volume of orders, and yet they are being closely monitored and expected to work at an unreasonable pace. As a result, many have reported injuries while on the job and feel disrespected when supervisors closely monitor them and even time their bathroom breaks.  I propose that Amazon acknowledge that its employees are valuable and deserve the right to be heard.
